SCOTT Firefighter Combat Challenge RETURNS TO BRANSON!

BRANSON, MO – The Branson Firefighters Association and the IAFF Local 152, along with Branson Landing and the Branson Convention & Visitors Bureau will be hosting the SCOTT Firefighter Combat Challenge® June 9-10, 2017.  This Challenge, as seen on ESPN for over a dozen years, seeks to encourage firefighter fitness and demonstrate the profession's rigors to the public.  Wearing "full bunker gear" and the Scott 5.5 Air-Pak breathing apparatus, pairs of competitors race head-to-head as they simulate the physical demands of real-life firefighting by performing a linked series of five tasks including climbing a  5-story tower, hoisting, chopping, dragging hoses and rescuing a life-sized, 175 lb. "victim" as they race against themselves, their opponent and the clock.

In addition to the firefighter challenge, there will be a community/corporate challenge that will take place on the same course as the pros, as well as a kid’s combat challenge, a Fire Truck Parade, Vendor Fair and NEW in 2017, a “Guns & Hoses” challenge.

A weekend full of events will include;

  • SCOTT Firefighter Combat Challenge
  • Kids Challenge (ages 4-11)
  • Community & Corporate Challenge
  • Guns N’ Hoses Challenge
  • Ozark Mountain Fire Truck Parade
  • Safety Vendor Fair

“We are very excited to have the SCOTT Firefighter Combat Challenge in Branson again this year, giving us the opportunity to honor our Fire Service and promote Firefighter Appreciation Month,” said Branson’s Mayor Karen Best.  “Our community embraces those who risk their lives on a daily basis.  Hopefully, the heroes participating in the challenge, and all of the spectators, will have the opportunity to take in the beauty, shows, attractions, shopping and outdoor activities while they are in our area.”
